Blue tiger eye, also known as hawks eye is a gemstone closely related to the well known gold tiger eye. In the gold variety, crocidolite is replaced by quartz while its fibrous structure is preserved. In this blue variety, the transformation is only partial, leaving the blue colour to remain. The shimmering eye-like nature, called chatoyancy, is caused by these newly created fibers.
